Adsorption of NO and CO on Pt(111) alloyed with a few per cent of Ge is investigated by reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy and thermal desorption spectroscopy. Both molecules exclusively occupy the on-top site in contrast to bridge and on-top adsorption on clean Pt(111). The adsorption energy of NO is dramatically reduced compared with that on clean Pt(111). Photodesorption of CO observed...
We have investigated the internal state populations of NO molecules desorbed from an epitaxial film NiO(100)/Ni(100) at 100 K. After desorption with a 550 fs pulse at γ = 314 nm (hv = 3.9 eV) the molecules have been detected using (1 + 1)-REMPI via the A 2 Σ + (v = 0,1,2,3)←X 2 Π(v = 0,1,2,3) γ-band transitions. The vibrational statesv >0 are highly populated approaching...
