In a recent study published in this journal, Brown, Thomas, and Thomas (2014) provided an overview of a study of 413 collegiate hospitality students, which revealed that 100% of students surveyed were in possession of a device that could facilitate the use of student response and engagement systems in the classroom, with 99% of those respondents expressing a desire to use a device in the classroom. To provide an overview for their peers in the collegiate hospitality academy, the authors developed this Education Resources Review to summarize the benefits and challenges associated with various student response and engagement systems and develop the ground work for continued diallogs pertaining to best practices in the use of these systems.
