Investigation of the metabolites of Gentiana rhodantha by LC-UV and LC-mass spectrometry (MS) resulted in the isolation and identification of two further high molecular weight secoiridoid glycosides, rhodanthosides B and C. These compounds contain four secoiridoid glucoside moieties, two of which were linked with a monoterpene dicarboxylic acid. Their structures were established by LC-UV, TSP LC-MS, CF-FAB LC-MS, ES/LC-MS, FAB-MS and 1D and 2D NMR data in combination with chemical reactions.
