Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) was first described in 1959. Owing to its low incidence, the natural history of this condition is not completely known. Although moderate to complete visual recovery can occur spontaneously, the visual prognosis in untreated CRAO is typically poor. Various therapeutic regimens have been devised. The efficacy and limitations of many of these regimens have been reviewed by ffytche. In particular, anterior chamber paracentesis has proven to be effective in the management of acute CRAO. In this report we present two cases of CRAO in which an excellent visual outcome was achieved with repeated anterior chamber paracentesis.
