La maculopathie diabétique constitue la principale cause de la malvoyance chez le patient diabétique spécifiquement l’œdème maculaire. Son incidence dépend de facteurs de risque locaux et généraux. La connaissance de ces facteurs prédictifs est essentielle afin de réduire le risque d’évolutivité vers la maculopathie diabétique But: Déterminer les facteurs de risque de la maculopathie diabétique.À travers une étude de cohorte rétrospective de 260 patients diabétiques de type 2, 15 patients (5,76 %) ont une maculopathie diabétique. La collecte de l’information a concerné les paramètres cliniques (âge, sexe, durée de diabète, IMC, tour de taille, tension artérielle, atteinte coronarienne, vasculaire cérébrale, vasculaire périphérique, tabagisme), biologiques (HbA1c, cholestérol total, triglycérides, HDL, LDL, micro-albuminurie, moyenne glycémies à jeun) et thérapeutiques (insulinothérapie, qualité équilibre glycémique, qualité équilibre tensionnel).Les corrélations ont mis en évidence une relation statistiquement significative entre la survenue de la maculopathie diabétique et l’âge des patients surtout pour les âges > 50 ans (100 %), la durée d’évolutivité du diabète surtout pour les durées > 10 ans (85,71±13,22 %), l’HbA1c > 9 % (71,42±7,07), l’association du diabète avec l’hypertension artérielle (85,71±13,22 %) ainsi qu’avec une dyslipidémie (71,42±17,07 %).La survenue de la maculopathie diabétique est fréquente au cours de la rétinopathie diabétique. Elle constitue une cause majeure de la baisse de la vision centrale chez le diabétique. Nos résultats soulignent l’intérêt d’un contrôle de la glycémie associé à la maîtrise des autres facteurs de risque notamment l’hypertension artérielle et la dyslipidémie.Les auteurs déclarent ne pas avoir d’intérêt direct ou indirect (financier ou en nature) avec un organisme privé, industriel ou commercial en relation avec le sujet présenté.
