The Gd-Au phase diagram was studied in the 0-100 at% Au composition range by differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Eight intermetallic compounds were identified and their melting behaviour was determined: Gd 2 Au (orthorhombic, oP12-Co 2 Si type, peritectic decomposition...
The isothermal section at 400 o C of the phase diagram Ce-Cu-Sn in the region between CeCu 2 -Ce 3 Sn 7 -Ce was investigated by X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy and electron probe microanalysis. In this region of the isothermal section, five ternary compounds have been confirmed or determined and 14 tie triangles identified.
