Quenching/tempering, instead of the conventional isothermal forging process, was investigated to refine the microstructure of cast TiAl-base alloys. By tempering the quenched massive-transformed structure at temperature above the α transus, a very fine near-fully lamellar microstructure with the grain size of 70-220 μm was developed in the cast Ti46A12W0.5Si alloy.
