A series of single-phased Bi 3+ , Eu 3+ , Tb 3+ codoped Ca 2 Al 2 SiO 7 phosphors have been prepared via high-temperature solid-state reaction. Energy transfer from Bi 3+ to Eu 3+ was observed and investigated in Ca 2 Al 2 SiO 7 host matrix. By tuning the relative concentration ratio of Tb 3+ /Eu 3+ , Ca 2 Al 2 SiO 7 :Bi 3+ , Eu 3+ , Tb 3+ phosphor has shown its color tunable capability, and a white light has been achieved by integrating the emission bands centered at 415(Bi 3+ ), 542(Tb 3+ ), and 619nm(Eu 3+ ), respectively. Our results indicated that Ca 2 Al 2 SiO 7 :Bi 3+ , Eu 3+ , Tb 3+ phosphor provides a potential candidate for phosphor converted light-emitting diodes.
