Four-element spinel-type selenides with the chemical composition M x Ga 2 / 3 ( 1 - x ) Cr 2 Se 4 (M=Cd, Zn) were grown by the chemical vapour transport method [1-3]. The lattice parameters of the single crystals were determined by the Guinier method. The chemical compositions were established by X-ray microanalyses, X-ray single crystal structure determination, and Raman spectroscopic studies. Optimal conditions were worked out for formation of selenide spinels.
