The precipitation of KDP produced by salting-out with aqueous solutions with different contents of ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol have been studied at 30°C. Induction periods were determined as function of the solution initial supersaturation by a visual procedure. From the experimental results it was possible to conclude that the formation of the new solid phase is controlled by primary nucleation followed by normal growth. The interfacial surface tension of KDP in different solvents was also obtained.
