Various flow patterns of surface waves in the layer of fluid with vertical forced vibration are visualized. The experimental setup consists of a cylindrical container with a bottom that vibrates only in vertical direction. Forcing frequencies vary within a relatively wide range from 5 Hz to 80 Hz. This paper presents the properties of the experiment apparatus, the techniques of flow visualization, and the flow patterns developing from orderly structure to chaos with variation of certain parameters, and discussion is made briefly.
