This article reports on a clinical study concerning twenty-six children, siblings of children with muscular dystrophy aiming at assessing their identity and affective room to manoeuvre. Interviews, drawings and games of the children allow understanding their identity feeling, emotional environment and expressions of affects. The study shows how much the children have to force themselves to adapt to a family space that is invaded by the handicapped child. Some children try to avoid these constraints by running away, others circumvent them by idealizing the disabled child, and others adopt a caring attitude towards the disabled child, and through him, towards parental wounds.
