A new glycosidic alkaloid, (-)-(trans-3'-methoxy-4'-α-l-rhamnosyloxy cinnamoyl)epilupinine, was isolated from the aerial parts of Lupinus varius, together with the eight knownalkaloids, (-)-(trans-4'-α-l-rhamnosyloxycinnamoyl) epilupinine, (+)-(trans-4'-hydroxy-3'-methoxy-cinnamoyl) epilupinine, (+)-epilupinine, (+)-epilupinine-N-oxide,(-)-multiflorine, (-)-δ 5 -dehydromultiflorine, (+)-ammodendrine and (-)-sparteine. Benzoylepilupinine was identified by GC-mass spectral analysis. The structure of the new glycosidicalkaloid was determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
