This study utilized the laser triangular method, a position sensing detector, and digital signal processing technology in the measurement of a training system for emergency escape from aircraft. The tracking system for the ejection seat position consists of a fixed part, a moving part, a reflecting real time sensing subsystem and a diffusing real time sensing subsystem to satisfy long distant (>10m) and short time period (<1.4s) requirement. This novel system combines the advantages of both laser reflection and laser diffusion, thus, covering a larger measurement range, and conducting precision local measurement. Given its fast reaction time, the proposed method is especially applicable to the position measurement of an object moving with hypervelocity.
