To improve the efficiency of computational fluid dynamics, a simplified model consisted of single-direction aligned cylinder-bank geometry is proposed to analyze heat transfer in three-dimensional geometrical structure of open cell foam. Experiment was designed and conducted to verify the simulated result of Nusselt number using simplified model for 10PPI, 20PPI and 30PPI open cell foams of porosity 0.95. The root mean square errors between the experimental and simulated values of Nusselt numbers were obtained as 0.0685, 0.0123, and 0.0076 for the cases of 10PPI, 20PPI and 30PPI copper foams respectively. Finally, a modified correlation of Nusselt number with undetermined coefficient was employed to match with experimental result so that the average coefficients in the correlation of Nusselt number were determined as 0.0663, 0.0153 and 0.0087 for 10PPI, 20PPI and 30PPI copper foams respectively.
