A case study of typical Litopenaeus vannamei comprehensive utilization system in a factory has been performed. Life cycle assessment (LCA) provides a quantitative basis for assessment environmental and economic impact of a food production system. According to LCA methodology, the system investigated was divided into four subsystems: raw material acquisition, production, packaging, and transportation. The results showed that the comprehensive utilization patterns could create greater added value, and the environmental impact could be less than the previous production system. The most impact category is greenhouse effect (1.89×105). Thus, the utilization model of L. vannamei production belongs to clean production mode. To processing 1,000kg L. vannamei, the total cost is ¥ 38,966. The total products value of frozen headless shrimp, seasoning material and feed additive is ¥ 53,355.
