Three new diterpene cembranes (1–3) along with eunilode (4) were isolated from the organic extracts of Eunicea mammosa. Biogenetic studies using a cell-free extract demonstrated that hydroxy cembrane 3 is the precursor to the ether-bridged 1. In order to deduce further structure–activity relationships a series of analogues were synthesized and their cytotoxicity against several cancer cell lines was evaluated.
