The 5%Ni and 5%Ni–2%Au catalysts were supported on mixed oxides (MgO) x (Al 2 O 3 ) y . The supports were co-precipitated with molar ratio Mg/Al=0.25–2. The catalysts were studied in the partial oxidation of methane (POM). The reducibility properties, X-ray characterization, activity, selectivity and carbon resistance depending on composition of support were investigated. The highest activity (100% of CH 4 conversion and 98% of CO selectivity) and stability during 72h were achieved for 5%Ni and 5%Ni–2%Au/(MgO) x (Al 2 O 3 ) y . The catalysts supported on (MgO) x (Al 2 O 3 ) y showed high resistance toward carbon deposition.
