Product description has important effect on realizing networked customization. From this point of view, this paper first analyzed four requirements that product description methods for networked customization must satisfy. According to these requirements, the paper comments on current methods of product description, pointing out their advantages and disadvantages. Then a plug-in based product description method is brought forward and discussed in detail. From analysis, the conclusion can be drawn that this method can meet four requirements simultaneously and adapt to the networked customization environment.
