This work is the continuation of Faure and Ghidaglia, “Violent flows in Aqueous Foam I: Physical and Numerical models” which appeared in the European Journal of Mechanics B/Fluids in 2011 (Faure and Ghidaglia, 2011). Here we build a code which can simulate the propagation of shocks in single or multiphase fluid flows. On the one hand, in order to take into account the attenuation effects due to the 3D geometry of the flow, we have extended the previous method to 1D flows with cylindrical and spherical symmetry. On the other hand we introduce the possibility of taking into account real thermodynamics with phase change (e.g. water and steam tables) so that mitigation of shock waves by an aqueous foam can be considered. We present various simulation cases.
