Reversible and irreversible charge-transfer models are applied to the switching reaction of polypyrrole films containing perchlorate. The films were prepared by applying an anodic potential of either 0.75 or 1.0 V (vs. sce). The peak currents and peak positions in cyclic voltammograms are used to calculate the transfer coefficient (α or β) and the kinetic constants (k r and k o ) using one point or multiple point fits. Using a scaling factor, the peak currents predicted by multiple point regression fall within 10% of the measurements.
