A study is conducted with the aim of developing fiber embedded matrix method related to the full-field fiber distribution for evaluating the macro-mechanical properties of 3D braided composites. For the validation of this model, multi-scale finite element method, which is on the basis of the three representative volume cells, and digital image correlation measurements are considered. The results show that the proposed fiber embedded matrix method is capable of accurately predicting the macroscopic properties of 3D braided composites, validated by the comparison the global stress–strain curves as well as the full-field displacement and strain fields.
