A relation between small temperature changes and ionisation gauge readings has been evaluated. The possibility of application of the effect of decreased desorption for a decrease in temperature has been described; a well-known phenomenon which nobody uses. The authors hope that the experimental effects described will persuade the vacuum users to apply such a simple intervention as a little cooling of the system.
