Excess molar volumes of ternary–pseudobinary liquid mixtures {benzene + (N, N - dimethylformamide or N, N - dimethylacetamide +CCl 4 )} and the apparent molar volumes of benzene in the binary mixtures of {N,N -dimethylformamide, or N, N - dimethylacetamide +CCl 4 } have been obtained by measuring density using an Anton Paar Model DMA 60/602 vibrating-tube densimeter, in the range of dilute concentration. The infinite dilution partial molar volumes of benzene were obtained by extrapolating the mole fraction of benzene to y= 0. The experimental results show that the partial molar volumes at infinite dilution for benzene decrease as the mole fraction x of N, N - dimethylformamide or N, N - dimethylacetamide in pseudo-pure component increases.
