We identified the TiO bands and measured their intensity jumps in the near-infrared spectra of 10 M giants located in the Galactic plane. The correlation between the measured intensity jumps and spectral subtypes for particular TiO bands was compared to the same type of correlation which includes intensity jumps calculated from model atmospheres for different [O/C] abundance ratios.
