The initial work on inorganic fluorine chemistry was the electrolytic production of elemental fluorine by using carbon anode. The study on carbon anode reaction, in particular, anode effect, was extended to the synthesis and properties of graphite fluorides and various types of graphite intercalation compounds. These works further led to the synthesis of new transition metal fluorides and oxide fluorides. The present review summarizes the reaearch works on inorganic fluorine chemistry done from 1961 to 1999.
