A review of some recent development of potentiometric sensors as an important kind of chemical sensors is given based on the research works undertaken in the authors' laboratories. It covers the improvement of pH sensing devices; the searching for anti-Hofmeister type carriers for ionic species; and the use of supramolecular chemistry concept. The microfabrication technique used in sensor construction is also discussed.
