Gamma-irradiation causes a significant change in the electrical resistivity, initially showing a decrease up to 150 Mrad dose. Beyond this dose, a significant increase at all temperatures especially at 800° was observed. The results are discussed and explained on the basis of crosslinking and/or degradation of polyaromatic groups in the macromolecular structure of coal caused by gamma rays.
