In this paper, Y0.95 Er0.05 PO4 phosphor nanomaterial with tetragonal structure was successfully synthesized to realize NIR to VIS up-conversion. Synthesis control over the property of material was made in conventional hydrothermal method and controlled pressure method with nitrogen. X-Ray diffraction pattern confirmed the tetragonal phase of the crystals and further, morphology was studied using SEM. Under NIR excitation of 967nm, characteristic intermediate energy levels corresponding to Er3+ ion were observed. Blue, green and red emission was observed for the samples at room temperature which shows the possible use of this material for the fabrication of LED's.
