Temperature and species concentration profiles were obtained for atmospheric-pressure, premixed, laminar, flat flames of trans-C 2 H 2 Cl 2 /CH 4 mixtures under fuel-rich conditions at several Cl/H ratios. Samples were withdrawn from within the flames using a heated micro-probe followed by gas analysis via on-line capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Mole fraction profiles were determined for the reactants and for CO, CO 2 , HCl, H 2 O, H 2 , CH 3 Cl, CH 2 Cl 2 , CHCl 3 , CCl 4 , C 2 HCl, C 2 H 3 Cl, C 3 H 5 Cl, C 2 H 2 , C 2 H 4 , C 2 H 6 , C 4 H 4 , C 4 H 2 , C 6 H 6 , and C 1 0 H 8 . The role of these species, in view of our current understanding of the mechanism of combustion of trans-C 2 H 2 Cl 2 and CH 4 , are discussed.
