Ho 3 Rh single crystal exhibits anisotropic properties. An ordering of holmium sublattice at 35 K and a spin reorientation process at 25 K in the magnetization, dc and ac magnetic susceptibility is observed. The electrical resistivity measurements confirm these phenomena. The temperature dependence of the lattice parameters and the unit cell volume show a magnetovolume effect below the ordering temperature. The XPS electronic structure measurements indicate hybridization of the rhodium 4d states and conduction band, which influences the properties of Ho 3 Rh.
