The possibility of weaving fabric with a control system governed by beat-up force with negative take-up and positive beat-up principles is investigated using modern electronics equipment to prevent starting places faults in weaving. The tension control system is integrated with that of the beat-up force. Any deviation from the desired beat-up force is compensated for by reducing or increasing both the take-up and let-off speeds to adjust the cloth fell position and the tension control is achieved by adjusting the relative speed between the let-off and take-up. The design parameters and system performance are discussed.
