Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coated on titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) thin films has been developed to supplement the defects of both TiO 2 and HAp. Thin films have been prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method using HAp and HAp(10%)+TiO 2 targets. X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that there are many small peaks of Ca 10 (PO 4 ) 6 (OH) 2 crystal, and no impurity other than HAp is detected in HAp films prepared using pure HAp target. The composition ratio of the film was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). HAp coatings on TiO 2 thin films have been prepared using HAp(10%)+TiO 2 targets. XRD and XPS measurements suggest that crystalline HAp+TiO 2 thin films are obtained by the PLD method using HAp(10%)+TiO 2 target.
