Negative giant magnetoresistance (GMR) has been obtained in Fe 2+x V 1-x Ga and Fe 2+y V 1-y Al: 48% for Fe 2 VGa and 30% for Fe 2.1 V 0.9 Al. These alloys show semiconductor-like electrical resistance for x < 0 and y = 0. The ferromagnetic alloys with x 0, y > 0 reveal resistance maximum near the Curie temperature. These results indicate that the metal-insulator transition is ascribed to magnetic ordering.
