The low UF or NF membranes performances depend mainly on the nature of the interactions between the solutes and the material membrane especially for the filtration of electrolyte solutions by means of charged ceramic membranes. The results of filtration obtained for different electrolyte solutions with two kinds of membranes, a monolayer TiO 2 (50%) ZnAl 2 O 4 (50%) membrane and a bilayer TiO 2 –ZnAl 2 O 4 membrane are in agreement with the variation of the surface charge of the membrane which can be followed by either the streaming potential across the membrane or the electrophoretic mobility of the powder material.
