An IC + PSSD telescope for the identification of heavy ion reaction products at low energies is developed. The performence of the IC detector is tested with α-particles from the 241 Am source. The measured energy resolution is limited by the energy loss straggling in the gas and is close to optimum value of this kind of detectors.
