Using internal matching, the problem of certain uniformly loaded complex symmetrical plates is reduced to solving the biharmonic in a rectangular region with mixed boundary conditions. The method is efficient and accurate. The simply-supported L and + shaped plates are studied in detail. The results show a weak stress singularity at the concave corner and maximum deflections may reach 4 times that of a strip with the same width.
