The formation of two-component multilayer films on solid surfaces is discussed using the mean-field theory and Monte-Carlo simulation. Phase diagrams for an adsorption system exhibiting complete mixing of both components are determined. It is shown that the sequence of layering transitions present in the system depends strongly on the properties of both adsorbates and the temperature and composition of the adsorbing mixture.
