BaZr x Ti 2−x O 5 powders (x=0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03 and 0.04) were prepared by the sol–gel method. The effect of the Zr content and sintering temperature on crystal structure and microstructure was investigated. The good-crystallization BaZr x Ti 2−x O 5 powders with BaTi 2 O 5 phase were obtained as the sintering temperature was at and above 1000°C. With increasing the Zr content, the lattice parameters of a-, b- and c-axes increased. As the sintering temperature increased, the grains grew larger. At high sintering temperature (more than 1000°C), the BaZr x Ti 2−x O 5 powders consisted of faceted grains due to its monoclinic structure.
