A method has been proposed for the determination of the order of release using absorbance profiles at varying concentration. Instead of complex mathematical treatments of the data, simple integration of the absorbance profiles from t = 0 to a point early in time along with the varying concentrations can be used to generate a plot whose slope is equal to the order of release. The ordinate of the plot is the natural logarithm of the concentration and the abscissa is the natural logarithm of the integrated value. Monte Carlo simulations with known kinetic parameters were used to test the proposed method. Calculated values based on experimental data for the order of release for Au, Cu and In are 0.31 +/- 0.05, 1.07 +/- 0.15 and 2.02 +/- 0.25 respectively.
