The paper presents a device for magnetic nanoparticles production. Such nanoparticles may be used for the preparation of ferrofluids or magneto-rheological fluids. The device may operate in several regimes: transferred plasma arc, non-transferred arc, TIG or MIG. Ferro- and ferrimagnetic particles with diameters between 3 and 110nm, as well as crystalline or amorphous graphite particles with a mean diameter of 6.4nm were obtained.
