SrO(SrTiO 3 ) n compounds were prepared by a modified sol–gel self-propagating combustion, which is a low-temperature combustion synthesis procedure using microwave-assisted sol-gel as precursors. The thermal treating conditions were determined by DTA/TG analysis of the powders. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for the sample characterization. The results confirm that the high temperature and long reaction time which occur in classical solid-state reaction method are avoided. The band structure, total density of states (DOS), and partial density of states (PDOS) of SrO(SrTiO 3 ) n were calculated in order to study the electronic structures of SrO(SrTiO 3 ) n .
