Eine 56-jährige Patientin litt seit ihrer Strumektomie wegen einer hyperthyreoten Struma multinodosa vor zwei Jahren an Schlafstörungen, Erschöpfung, Blutdruckschwankungen und Palpitationen. Eine belastende Familienkonstellation (Probleme mit der Mutter) verschlechterte das Allgemeinbefinden der Patientin noch zusätzlich. Trotz optimal eingestellter peripherer Schilddrüsenwerte und begleitender Psychotherapie stand die Patientin weiterhin unter großem Leidensdruck.Verbesserung der Schlafqualität, Steigerung der Belastungstoleranz, NikotinkarenzNeben der medikamentösen Therapie und begleitender Psychotherapie kam Akupunktur zum Einsatz. Gemäß den Gepfl ogenheiten der Akupunkturambulanz wurde einmal pro Woche für zehn Wochen therapiert. Im Anschluss daran erfolgte noch die alleinige Ohrakupunktur zur Raucherentwöhnung.Besserung des Allgemeinbefi ndens nach etwa vier Behandlungen, VAS (0–10) vor Therapie 9,3. Nach Beendigung der Therapie 2,8.Bei der Patientin konnte durch Akupunktur der Allgemeinzustand so weit gebessert werden, dass sie sich „wie neu geboren” (Zitat) fühlte. Eine zuvor vehement abgelehnte Therapie zur Raucherentwöhnung wurde gegen Ende der geplanten Serie von zehn Akupunktursitzungen dankbar angenommen.
