The infrared emission characterization of high intensity IR flare material combustion is studied using a remote sensing Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The emission spectra have been recorded between 4700 and 740 cm - 1 with a spectral resolution of 0.24 cm - 1 . The spectral radiance distribution of the IR flare material combustion has been given. A number of combustion products have been determined directly and quantitatively. The flame temperature can be estimated remotely and directly from the line intensity distributions of the fine structures of the emission fundamental bands of gaseous molecules, such as HF, HCl, CO and/or H 2 O.
