Third generation mobile networks are currently being deployed and user demand for multimedia applications is increasing. We study the quality of service (QoS) of 3GPP 3G-324M mobile videophones over WCDMA networks, using only circuit switched connections. Video quality is assessed in both mobile-to-land and mobile-to-mobile connections at 32 and 64 kbps for different channel conditions and mobile speeds. Call control issues and service flexibility are also analyzed. Results are presented in terms of visual quality, received peak signal to noise ratio, delay, and frame rate.
