The DA[Phi ]NE project at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF) is an e + e [ m i n u s ] collider with electron and positron beams accelerated to 510 MeV by a Linac injector. DA[Phi ]NE is designed to reach a top luminosity L[thksim] 10 3 3 cm [ m i n u s ] 2 s [ m i n u s ] 1 , that is, to produce [thksim]4 [times ] 10 3 [Phi ](1020)s [ m i n u s ] 1 . The hypernuclear research program at DA[Phi ]NE relies on low-energy kaons, [thksim] 16MeV, being produced by [Phi ]-meson decays at rest: [Phi ] [rarr ] K [ m i n u s ] K + with a B.R.[thksim]49%. In the initial stage, DA[Phi ]NE will operate at a L[thksim] 10 3 2 cm [ m i n u s ] 2 s [ m i n u s ] 1 , however the number of [Phi ] produced, and the large geometrical acceptance of the FINUDA detector, [thksim] 3sr, will allow a strong hypernuclear physics program to be pursued.
