A model to predict the %C remaining in MIM parts after debinding is proposed. In N-H atmospheres, decarburization is controlled by oxidation and reduction in a manner that leaves a concentration of H which minimizes decarburization. The model indicates that the residual %C is determined by the dwell time at peak debinding temperature and by atmosphere composition with regard to H and H 2 O.
