Ce texte retrace l'histoire de l'éthique de la recherche médicale et, en particulier, de la recherche clinique. La protection des individus n'a commencé à être envisagée qu'après la seconde guerre mondiale pour aboutir récemment, en France, à la loi de 1988 sur la protection des personnes, en instaurant un cadre législatif précis et évolutif pour assurer à la fois cette protection et le développement de la recherche dans des domaines en évolution continue.
This article reports on the history of ethics applied to clinical research and describes the particularities of the French 1988 Law dedicated to the protection of individuals.
