Household energy demand in Vietnam is analysed based on a recent household energy survey in four northern provinces. Energy consumption patterns by fuel type and by end use are analysed. The effects of income on these patterns are also examined for different categories of households. Widely held beliefs about energy use and behaviour have been given actual value.
