Zinc(II) chloride/acetate complexes of title ligands have been synthesized in MeOH/water medium. The compounds were characterized by their elemental analyses, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, and spectroscopic data. The molecular formulas of the new complexes were found to be: [(C 1 7 H 2 0 ClN 2 S) 4 ZnCl 2 ]Cl 4 where C 1 7 H 2 0 ClN 2 S = protonated chlorpromazine; [(C 1 9 H 2 5 N 2 S) 2 ZnCl 2 ]Cl 2 where C 1 9 H 2 5 N 2 S = protonated ethopropazine; [(C 1 7 H 2 1 N 2 S) 2 ZnCl]Cl 3 where C 1 7 H 2 1 N 2 S = protonated promethazine; [(C 2 1 H 2 7 N 2 S 2 ) 2 ZnCl 2 ]Cl 2 .MeOH and [(C 2 1 H 2 7 N 2 S 2 )ZnCl](OAc) 2 where C 2 1 H 2 7 N 2 S 2 = protonated thioridazine; and [(C 2 1 H 2 6 F 3 N 3 S)ZnCl 3 ]Cl where C 2 1 H 2 6 F 3 N 3 S = diprotonated trifluoperazine. All compounds are diamagnetic and ionic in nature. Structures for the complexes are proposed.
